Marking the seasons

In a few days it will be spring in Australia and we are excited! The girls know all about the seasons and love to watch the world around them change. We usually set up a ‘season’s wall’ to display all the artwork and learning that has been inspired by the current season…

One of my favourites, last Spring.

We also include beautiful books about the season’s and they are always excited to get the new ones out…

Our last Autumn wall/corner.

We go for walks around our neighbourhood to collect treasures to add to our nature tray, usually cleaning it out at the end of each season to make way for new things.

Our nature tray for collecting and exploring natural materials.

Both of my older girls still love sensory play too so I often make up a season’s sensory box for them.

This Autumn box smelt lovely and was one of my favourites.

I can’t wait for spring! My favourite season. Goodbye winter! Do you notice the changing of the seasons in your home? I would love to hear what you do!

  1. I like that Nature Tray idea! May do that with my soon-to-be 4yo. i def notice the seasons. Here in Canada we have 4 quite distinct ones and the longest (being winter, of course) is closing in!

  2. Here in Canada, we are finishing summer, soon to be autumn. Funny to hear you’re waiting for spring :). Very nice displays!
