People often worry about motivation when they firs
People often worry about motivation when they first start unschooling. If we don't force our kids to learn, won't they just do nothing all day?

I have 4 kids who are currently 17, 15, 12, and 10. And nope. They are full of ideas and plans.

Motivation isn't a problem when the environment supports curiosity.
Curiosity needs a few simple things to grow...
Autonomy: the freedom to follow your own questions.
Interesting environments: ideas, tools, conversations, people, experiences.
Time: time to explore at your own pace.
When those conditions exist, you don’t have to constantly try and force learning. Curiosity does the job for you.

This is why unschooling looks different from school. The goal isn't to make children learn, it’s to protect the conditions that mean learning is inevitable.

When we cultivate environments where curiosity lives, creation is a natural result. Kids get interested in things, they want to know more, they pursue their interests and dive into fascinating projects.

If you want to understand how that process unfolds, and how to support it, I’ve written a short guide that explains it.
Comment GUIDE and I’ll send it to you.
