Children spend a lot of their time being told wher
Children spend a lot of their time being told where to be, when to eat, when to speak, when they can move their bodies, what to learn, when they can go to the toilet... and then we say how lucky they are for not having adult responsibilities.

The amount of control they have over their own lives is so normalised that we rarely even question it. But, we should.

You can't take away autonomy, responsibility, and meaningful contribution and then complain kids are lazy and apathetic. What have we given them to care about? What real choices do they have?
