There's a common myth that unschooled kids are com
There's a common myth that unschooled kids are completely independent learners from the start. Not true! While kids are incredibly capable, motivated, and full of potential, learning thrives in community. They flourish when they have a supportive, engaged adult to guide, inspire, and model the way. It's about showing them the possibilities and being their partner, not leaving them to figure it all out alone! I see this with my kids all the time. From when they were young I helped them identify the questions they had, wonder about the answers, find information and opportunities to experience the things that interested them, presented them with new things they might like, and generally showed them many different ways you could pursue your passions. And now, I frequently see how they have taken over this job for themselves. Unschooling is not magic. We can't expect them to do things when we have never shown them how! Let's not forget our part in this. P.S. My email subscription starts up this week.
