Try explaining unschooling to a child who's spent
Try explaining unschooling to a child who's spent years in school, and you’ll quickly see how deeply the system has shaped their view of learning.

They’re not just unfamiliar with it, they often can’t even imagine it.

Because they’ve been taught that learning is something you’re given, not something you do.
That it has to come from a teacher.
That it only counts if you’re tested.
That freedom is suspicious, and trust must be earned.

The real lesson of school isn’t the content. Let’s be honest, most of us can’t remember much of what we were taught there.

But the lessons we learned about ourselves? Those stay with us.

Children are capable. They’re incredibly motivated. They’re curious, thoughtful, and full of ideas.

Until we 'educate' them out of these things.

Have your kids had these conversations with other kids? How did they explain?
