The girls were talking to me recently about how adults always ask them what they want to be when they grow up. It's one of the most common questions they get, second to 'what grade are you in?' LOL.

Miss 13 commented that when she gets this question she thinks, "don't you want to hear about what I am right now?"

How often are we treating children as if they are just adults in training? We act as if they are on the way to being someone, instead of recognising that they are someone right now. Children are already people! They are people with interests, passions, hobbies, ideas, thoughts, preferences, and interesting things to say. Let's get to know this version of them!
