We inherit so many ideas about childhood that they
We inherit so many ideas about childhood that they feel like facts. Children should be preparing for the future, children should always be productive, children should obey adults, children should spend most of their day doing what adults think is important.

But who decided any of that? 
Not children. 

Some of these ideas come from school, some come from history, culture, family etc. They're so deeply ingrained that now we kind of just mistake them for 'common sense'. But common doesn't automatically mean true.

And call me crazy, but shouldn't the people actually living childhood have the biggest say in what it looks like?
